Moving Around Aruba

Once you make it to the beautiful island, getting around isn’t all that difficult. Because Aruba is a tourist laden paradise, there are transportation services available to just about all travelers. You don’t have to look very far to find a taxi or a limousine that is willing to transport you from point A to point B.

Rent a Motorcycle or Scooter

If you are on the island with your special someone or you are traveling alone, then you might want to get around on a motorcycle or a scooter. These small vehicles will get you where you need to go in a hurry. Once on the island, you shouldn’t have any trouble finding a company that will rent these out. It’s become very popular to utilize this mode of transportation in recent months, so more and more rental shops are popping up on the island.

Use the Public Bus System

It is in your best interests to utilize the great public bus system on the island. It doesn’t cost much and it runs on a very set schedule. You can find out from your hotel what times the busses run and you can be sure that they will connect you to pretty much every major district in the country.

If you are looking for the primary bus station, you will find it in beautiful downtown Oranjestad. In that city, there are a number of beautiful shops and waterfront restaurants. On the bus line, you can travel just about anywhere for a very low price. For a long time, tourists were hesitant to use the public bus system in Aruba, but in the last few years, more and more people are figuring out that it is probably the most cost effective way to travel to and from the beaches and hotel areas.

You can also use the chartered line bus services that many companies provide in Aruba. Try Arubus, which is owned by the government of Aruba. This bus will run from some of the most popular hotels and resorts into the most popular areas of the country, like the beaches and the night hotspots.

Rental Cars

One of the most popular ways to get around on the island is to rent a Jeep. If you want to have a good time, then this is certainly the way to go. Since the roads on the island are pretty bad, you need a vehicle with a little bit more power and pull. The Jeep will not only allow you to get around on these roads, but you can do so in style. This will truly allow you to see everything that Aruba has to offer.

There are some things that you should remember when driving in Aruba, though. They drive on the right side of the road, which can throw off some Europeans. In addition, you will have to leave a deposit or have a credit card in order to rent a vehicle. Depending upon your age, this can either be very easy or very difficult.
